Scans Zink! Spring 2009

I was paging through Zink! and I came across this really interesting article on Icelandic jewelry designer Hafsteinn Juliusson titled "Its Not Easy Being Green". Juliusson designs jewelry, from rings to junky bracelets, with a special kind of live moss embedded in the pieces as the gem. To keep the gem growing you have to water the patch of moss. It's a neat concept that gives that Urbanite a little green in his life. The thing I like about it is the idea that even in our high rise buildings we can have a part of nature with us in even the most sterile environments. It's a definite exploit on the "green itch" but throw in some hot models, play up the organic switch and Juliusson's ad campaign has me thinking a little moss to go with my prada wedges is the kind of organic fix a girl needs!

There's no real reason for my lack of posts other than "that whole life thing" and those awkward moments in life we all love to hate. With that said, I've missed everything about blogging and I hope my first post back into the swing of things doesn't end up sounding like some narcissistic/martyred-rant. Moving on, I've been thinking a lot about certain moments in my life and the paradoxes that shape us, I mean on one level you have no control over what life throws at you and on the other life is about choice, you choose to wake up, you choose to take up an opportunity that presents itself, and in the grand scheme of things you, and you alone, are an active participant in your life. If I am to truly accept that as fact then here I am in THIS moment taking a deep breath and saying YES.
